11/29/04-Gov. Ed Rendell signed a bill into law Nov. 23 requiring the posting of a sign within 10 feet and in plain sight of a fuel pump that specifies that the individual transferring diesel fuel must remain at the refueling point while dispensing.
The new law, previously HB1238, sponsored by Rep. Ronald Marsico, R-Lower Paxton, requires that “at the site” of dispensing of fuel means within 10 feet of the nozzle.
Anyone found in violation would be liable for payment of all environmental clean-up costs associated with a resulting fuel spill.
The bill passed the House 197-0 and the Senate 47-0. It becomes effective in 60 days.
