6/23/04-A bill permitting police to ticket motorists for inattentive driving has died.
H7106, sponsored by Rep. Peter Kilmartin, D-Pawtucket, remained in the House Judiciary Committee when the session ended June 26, effectively killing it for the year.
The infraction would have been a secondary offense, meaning police could only ticket drivers if pulled over for some other offense. Violators would have been subject to a $50 fine.
