5/27/04-A bill that sought to prohibit big rigs from the left lane on state roadways has died.
SB2108, sponsored by Sen. Rusty Crowe, R-Johnson City, remained in the Senate Transportation Committee at the close of the session May 21, effectively killing it for the year.
Under the bill, truck tractors and semi-trailers would be restricted to the right-most lanes of interstate or multi-lane divided highways, except when passing or instructed by emergency personnel. Violators could be subject to a $50 fine.

2/26/04-The Senate Transportation Committee is reviewing a bill 13 that would prohibit big rigs from the left lane on state roadways.
Under SB2108, sponsored by Sen. Rusty Crowe, R-Johnson City, truck tractors and semi-trailers would be restricted to the right-most lanes of interstate or multi-lane divided highways, except when passing or instructed by emergency personnel. Violators could be subject to a $50 fine.
An identical bill – HB2182 – has been withdrawn from consideration.

An identical bill – HB2182 – was also introduced in the Senate. The bills are awaiting assignment to committee.
