2/13/04-The House Finance Committee rejected a bill that called for increasing the state’s fuel tax 6 cents per gallon.
HB885, sponsored by Delegate Kenneth Plum, D-Reston, would raise the diesel fuel tax for trucks from 16 cents a gallon to 22 cents. Trucks under the International Registration Plan would pay 25.5 cents a gallon on diesel – up from 19.5 cents.
The gas tax would increase from 17.5 cents a gallon to 23.5 cents.
