3/2/04-The House defeated a measure that would permit police to pull over drivers who are not buckled up.
House lawmakers voted 31-28 not to pass HB32, killing the measure.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Jerry Iekel, R-Sheridan, would have created a primary law for seat-belt enforcement. Currently, police can ticket drivers only after stopping a vehicle for another traffic violation.
