3/10/04-Gov. Dave Freudenthal signed a bill into law targeting drivers who urinate in bottles and then toss them alongside the highways.
The new law increases the penalty for littering if the litter involves disposal of body fluids. The penalty for pee-bottle tossing can run up to nine months in prison, up to a $1,000 fine, or both.
A provision allows for a suspended sentence with the violator spending up to 40 hours cleaning litter from public roads, parks or other public areas.
SF55 passed the Senate Feb. 25 by a 26-4 vote. The House approved the bill March 3 45-13.
