6/10/05-A bill that would have created a primary law for seat-belt enforcement will have to wait until next year for passage.
SB87, sponsored by Sen. Con Bunde, R-Anchorage, was awaiting a full House vote when the session ended. The Senate-approved bill will be held over until next year, when it can be taken up from where it was left off.
Currently, police in the state can issue seat-belt citations to drivers only after stopping a vehicle for another traffic violation.
Under the bill, drivers caught not wearing their seat belts could be pulled over by police.

Currently, police in the state can issue seat-belt citations to drivers only after stopping a vehicle for another traffic violation.
Under SB87, sponsored by Sen. Con Bunde, R-Anchorage, drivers caught not wearing their seat belts could be pulled over by police.
