3/21/05-A bill that would have fined drivers who linger in the left lane on highways has died.
HF126, introduced by Rep. Willard Jenkins, R-Waterloo, remained in the House Transportation Committee at the deadline for bills to pass from their originating chamber.
It sought to reserve the left lane of all multilane roadways, including freeways and expressways, for drivers passing other vehicles.

2/24/05-A bill offered by Rep. Willard Jenkins, R-Waterloo, would allow police to issue $35 citations to drivers who linger in the left lane on highways.
HF126 would reserve the left lane of all multilane roadways, including freeways and expressways, for drivers passing other vehicles.
The bill would exempt drivers in the left lane to turn or exit, or if traffic prohibits the vehicle from merging back to the right.
