3/1/05-The House Transportation Committee voted 8-3 on Feb. 28 to kill a proposal that would have raised the speed limit by 5 mph on two-lane highways and other four-lane roads as well.
SSB1172, sponsored by Rep. Dave Tjepkes, R-Gowrie, sought to push the speed limit for all vehicles on the state’s two-lane highways from 55 mph to 60 mph and on four-lane expressways from 65 mph to 70 mph. Cities would have maintained the authorization to set lower limits.
