7/12/05-A bill that sought to make speeding the only evidence needed to prove a charge of reckless driving in Illinois has died.
HB773, sponsored by Rep. George Scully Jr., D-Chicago Heights, remained in the House Transportation and Motor Vehicles Committee at the deadline to advance to the full chamber, effectively killing it for the year.
It would have declared that driving 40 mph or more over the speed limit as evidence of reckless driving.
