7/22/05-A new rule in Illinois brings the state into compliance with the USA Patriot Act’s provisions on background checks for hazmat drivers.
Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed a bill into law July 21 that sets up the state to conduct its portion of the fingerprint-based background checks now required of hazmat drivers, a process being led by the federal Transportation Security Administration.
The measure – SB1825 – won widespread support from state legislators.

6/2/05-The House unanimously approved a bill last week that would bring the state into compliance with the USA Patriot Act’s provisions on background checks for hazmat drivers.
The bill, which passed the Senate 56-2 in April, has been forwarded to Gov. Rod Blagojevich for his signature.
Sponsored by Sen. Terry Link, D-Lake Bluff, SB1825 would set up the state to conduct its portion of the fingerprint-based background checks now required of hazmat drivers, a process being led by the federal Transportation Security Administration.

5/24/05-The House Transportation and Motor Vehicles Committee has unanimously approved a bill that would bring the state into compliance with the USA Patriot Act’s provisions on background checks for hazmat drivers.
SB1825, sponsored by Sen. Terry Link, D-Lake Bluff, would set up the state to conduct its portion of the fingerprint-based background checks now required of hazmat drivers, a process being led by the federal Transportation Security Administration.
The bill, which previously passed the Senate, has been sent to the full House for consideration.

4/27/05-The Senate voted 56-2 April 15 to approve a bill that would bring the state into compliance with the USA Patriot Act’s provisions on hazmat drivers.
SB1825, sponsored by Sen. Terry Link, D-Lake Bluff, would set up the state to conduct its portion of the fingerprint-based background checks now required of hazmat drivers, a process being led by the federal Transportation Security Administration.
It is in the House Rules Committee.

3/21/05-The Senate Transportation Committee has unanimously approved a bill that would bring the state into compliance with the USA Patriot Act’s provisions on hazmat drivers.
SB1825, sponsored by Sen. Terry Link, D-Lake Bluff, would set up the state to conduct its portion of the fingerprint-based background checks now required of hazmat drivers, a process being led by the federal Transportation Security Administration.
The bill is awaiting a final vote before the full Senate. If approved, it would head to the House for further consideration.
