3/3/05-A bill to increase the speed limit on the Indiana Toll Road has been rejected by House lawmakers.
Representatives failed to take up the measure prior to the March 1 deadline for bills to pass from their originating chamber.
HB1393, offered by Rep. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Howe, sought to raise the speed limit from 60 mph to 65 mph for large trucks and from 65 mph to 70 mph for all other vehicles traveling on the toll road.
However, the provision would be covered in a recently approved Senate bill – SB217 – dealing with all Indiana interstate highways.
2/8/05-The House Roads and Transportation Committee voted 6-4 on Feb. 7 to approve a bill that would increase the speed limit for all drivers on the Indiana Toll Road. The bill would maintain the state’s 5-mph speed differential for cars and big trucks.
HB1393, sponsored by Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Howe, would raise the speed limit from 60 mph to 65 mph for big trucks and from 65 mph to 70 mph for all other vehicles.

1/26/05-A bill in the House Roads and Transportation Committee would increase the speed limit for all drivers traveling the Indiana Toll Road.
HB1393, sponsored by Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Howe, would raise the speed limit from 60 mph to 65 mph for large trucks and from 65 mph to 70 mph for all other vehicles traveling on the Indiana Toll Road.
The Indiana Department of Transportation would be responsible for posting signs on roadways reflecting changes in state law.
