8/17/05-A bill in the Joint Committee on Transportation would allow police to ticket drivers who fail to flip on their headlights during bad weather.
Current state law requires all vehicles to be equipped with headlights and to use them in darkness.
H1998, sponsored by Rep. Elizabeth Poirier, R-North Attleboro, would require lights to be on “whenever the windshield wipers of the vehicle are in use.”
Violators could be fined as much as $5.

A similar bill – H2002 – also is in the Joint Committee on Transportation.
