9/26/05-A bill in the House Committee on Transportation would create a fine for passing a vehicle in a construction zone.
HB4028, sponsored by Aldo Vagnozzi, D-Farmington Hills, would prohibit passing another vehicle on a highway where a traffic lane is temporarily closed for repair or construction. A driver would be forbidden to pass or overtake another vehicle within one mile of the closed portion of that traffic lane.
Violators could be fined up to $500 and/or as many as 90 days in jail.
