8/31/05-The House Agriculture Committee has approved a bill intended to make sure fuel pumps are providing the quality they are supposed to.
HB4501, sponsored by Rep. Fran Amos, R-Waterford, would increase penalties for fuel stations that short customers.
The bill would keep first-offense fines between $100 and $500 for quality violations.
However, stations that have repeat offenses within five years would face fines between $1,000 and $2,000. Third-violation fines would be between $2,000 and $4,000.
