8/31/05-The House Agriculture Committee has approved a bill intended to make sure fuel pumps are providing the quantity they are supposed to.
HB4502, sponsored by Rep. Fran Amos, R-Waterford, would increase penalties for fuel stations that short customers.
The bill would keep first-offense fines between $50 and $1,000 for quantity violations.
However, stations that have repeat offenses within two years would face fines between $1,000 and $7,500. Third-violation fines would be between $2,000 and $10,000.
