11/14/05-House lawmakers voted 94-12 Nov. 9 to advance a bill that would reduce the speed gap between cars and trucks traveling freeways in the state.
Sponsored by Rep. Bruce Caswell, R-Hillsdale, HB5104 would increase the 55 mph speed limit for vehicles with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more to travel at 60 mph on freeways in the state. It also would apply to all passenger vehicles and pickup trucks that pull trailers.
Other motorists would continue to drive at the current 70 mph limit.

9/22/05-The House Committee on Transportation voted 13-1 Sept. 20 to advance a bill that would reduce the speed gap between cars and trucks traveling freeways in the state.
HB5104, sponsored by Rep. Bruce Caswell, R-Hillsdale, would allow vehicles with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more to travel up to 60 mph – up from 55 mph. Other motorists would continue to drive at the current 70 mph limit.
