7/25/05-A new state law modifies traffic rules when passing a parked emergency vehicle.
The new rule, previously HF1164, clarifies an existing law requiring drivers to move into a lane farthest from those in which emergency vehicles are parked. It also authorizes law enforcement to issue citations to violators. A provision in the law clarifies that drivers must only move over if it is safe to do so. If that is the case, drivers are required to reduce speed.
