5/19/05-A bill that would have prohibited large trucks from traveling in the left lane on highways with three or more lanes in the state has died.
HB183, sponsored by Rep. Jack Johnson, R-Wildwood, remained in committee at the close of the session, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have restricted commercial vehicles to the right lanes of highways, except when making “a proper left turn or when otherwise directed by traffic markings, signs or signals.” Violators could have been subject to a fine ranging from $200 to $300.
The Missouri Department of Transportation would have been responsible for posting signs on the effected highways.
