3/7/05-SB256, which would allow police to pull over motorists for not wearing their seat belts, has been combined with SB221.
2/17/05-Sen. Jon Dolan, R-Lake St. Louis, has introduced a bill that would allow police to pull over motorists for not wearing their seat belts.
Current state law allows motorists to be ticketed for failure to buckle up only after being stopped for another traffic violation.
Under SB256, violators would be fined $10. For Senate bill status, call (573) 751-2966.
A similar House bill – HB339 – is awaiting assignment to a committee.
