2/9/05-Sen. Sam Kitzenberg, R-Glasgow, has given up on his push to carve a four-lane highway across the state’s Hi-Line.
Kitzenberg said state transportation officials convinced him his measure forbidding the state from building anything but a four-lane U.S. 2 would prevent a host of projects already planned for the highway.
SB306 was in the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee prior to Kitzenberg’s withdrawal.

2/8/05-Sen. Sam Kitzenberg, R-Glasgow, has offered legislation that would carve a four-lane highway across the state’s Hi-Line.
SB306 would forbid the state from building anything but a four-lane road through the region.
The bill would drop the requirement that only federal money can be used for work on U.S. 2.
A Senate Highways and Transportation Committee hearing on the bill scheduled for Feb. 8 has been cancelled.
For bill status, call (406) 444-4800.
