6/30/05-A bill that sought to require drivers in the state to reduce their speed and “move over as far as practical” when approaching an emergency vehicle parked by the road with lights flashing has died.
LB24, sponsored by Sen. Tom Baker of Trenton, remained in the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
The “Move Over/Slow Down” initiative was intended to protect police and other emergency personnel during roadside stops.
