4/28/05-A bill that sought to increase the state’s fuel tax by 2 cents a gallon each year for the next five years has died.
AB494 remained in the Assembly Transportation Committee at the deadline for bills to pass from committee.
The Nevada Highway Users Alliance wanted lawmakers to authorize higher fuel taxes after a hearing in which members discussed coming shortfalls in the state highway construction budget.

3/30/05-A bill offered by Assembly Majority Leader Barbara Buckley, D-Las Vegas, would increase the state’s fuel tax by 2 cents a gallon each year for the next five years.
AB494 is scheduled for discussion before the Assembly Transportation and Homeland Security Committee on April 12.
The bill would increase Nevada’s fuel tax by 2 cents a gallon on July 1, 2006, and then by 2 cents a gallon each year through 2010.
