11/18/05-A bill in the House Transportation, Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee would require repeat child molesters and other serious sexual offenders to be forced to display pink license plates for at least five years after their release from prison.
HB217, sponsored by Rep. Michael DeBose, D-Cleveland, would require the plates for any personal or commercial vehicle. Anyone found in violation could be fined up to $150.
Judges also would have authority to require the plates for less serious sexual offenses.

A similar Senate bill – SB229 – is awaiting assignment to a committee.
