11/18/05-Sen. Kevin Coughlin, R-Cuyahoga Falls, has introduced a bill that would require repeat child molesters and other serious sexual offenders to be forced to display pink license plates for at least five years after their release from prison.
SB229, which is awaiting assignment to a committee, would require the plates for any personal or commercial vehicle. Anyone found in violation could be fined up to $150.
Judges also would have authority to require the plates for less serious sexual offenses.
For bill status, call (614) 466-8842. In Ohio, call 1-800-282-0253.
A similar House bill – HB217 – is in the House Transportation, Public Safety and Homeland Security committee.
