5/3/05-An effort is likely dead to allow concrete mixing trucks with a true gross load not to exceed 66,000 pounds to travel 30 miles from their home base.
The bill failed to meet a May 1 deadline to pass the Senate. Now it will take a two-thirds vote in favor to restart the bill.
Current law limits the concrete mixers to stay within 15 miles of their home base.
S65, sponsored by Sen. Thomas Moore, D-Clearwater, would require all affected vehicles to have “at least three axles each with brake-equipped wheels.”

1/10/05-Sen. Thomas Moore, D-Clearwater, has introduced a bill that would increase the mileage radius for concrete mixing trucks to travel along the state’s highways from their home base.
S65 would hike the radius from the current 15-mile rule to 35 miles.
Under the bill, “these vehicles are limited to a maximum load of the rated capacity of the concrete mixer, the true gross load not to exceed sixty-six thousand pounds.” It also requires the vehicles to have at least three axles each with brake-equipped wheels.
