5/3/05-Gov. Christine Gregoire signed a Good Samaritan bill April 28 that makes it a misdemeanor to fail to assist someone who is badly injured, providing that giving aid wouldn’t endanger the helper. At the very least, onlookers would be responsible for calling 9-1-1.
Under the new law, previously HB1236, a violation carriers a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
It takes effect July 24.
