12/5/05-A bill in the Joint Committee on Finance would end automatic indexing of the state’s fuel tax.
AB303, sponsored by Rep. Spencer Black, D-Madison, would require lawmakers to annually vote on any tax changes.
The automatic increase in the tax has been adjusted for inflation on April 1 each year since 1985. This year, the tax increased 0.8 cents a gallon.
