12/7/05-A bill that would lower the price of fuel if paying with cash has been “laid on the table,” essentially killing the effort. An identical effort – SB180 – however, is headed to Gov. Jim Doyle’s desk.

10/12/05-A bill passed the Assembly Committee on Transportation Oct. 11 by a 13-0 vote that would lower the price of fuel if paying with cash.
AB398, sponsored by Rep. Jeffrey Wood, R-Chippewa Falls, now moves to the Assembly Committee on Rules.
The bill would eliminate a mandatory surcharge of 3 percent that retailers must charge on every fuel purchase, regardless of the form of payment, in order to provide credit card payment methods at their stores.
For bill status, call (608) 266-1803. In Wisconsin, call 1-800-362-9472.
An identical Senate bill – SB180 – is in the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Corrections and Privacy.
