2/16/05-A bill that sought to slow trucks down when the pavement is wet has died.
HB212, sponsored by Rep. Kurt Bucholz, R-Saratoga, remained in the House Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Committee past the Feb. 4 deadline for bills to pass out of committee.
The bill called for truckers traveling on interstates in the state to slow to 65 mph “when there is evidence of moisture on the roadway.” The law would apply only to trucks.
Violators could have faced a fine of $100 if found to be driving in excess of 70 mph with any sign of moisture present.
