1/28/05-Senators failed to approve legislation Friday, Jan. 28, that called for adopting split speed limits in the state.
The full Senate vote was 15-15.
SF126, sponsored by Senate President Grant Larson, R-Jackson, sought to set the speed limit for large trucks at 65 mph on the state’s interstate highways. All other vehicles would have been permitted to continue to travel at the current 75 mph limit.
The effort previously passed the Senate Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee on a 5-0 vote.

1/20/05-The Senate Minerals, Business and Economic Development Committee approved a bill Jan. 20 calling for split speed limits on interstates.
The bill, sponsored by Senate President Grant Larson, R-Jackson, now heads to the full Senate for consideration as early as Monday, Jan. 24.
It would set the speed limit for large trucks at 65 mph on the state’s interstate highways. All other vehicles would continue to travel at the current 75 mph limit.
