4/26/06-A bill died that would have allowed police to install cameras at traffic lights to catch those running red lights.
HB35 was awaiting consideration in House Judiciary Committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
Tickets would have been mailed to the vehicle owner after authorities review photos. A violation would not have counted as points toward a driver’s license suspension or be used by any insurance company to determine premiums.
The bill would have made the owner of the vehicle presumptively responsible but provide procedures to transfer responsibility to another person who was operating the vehicle or to contest the notice of violation in municipal court.

12/13/05-A bill awaiting consideration in the House Judiciary Committee would allow police to install cameras at traffic lights to catch those running red lights.
Under HB35, sponsored by Rep. David Grimes, R-Montgomery, a ticket would be mailed to the vehicle owner after authorities review photos. A violation would not count as points toward a driver’s license suspension or be used by any insurance company to determine premiums.
The bill would make the owner of the vehicle presumptively responsible but provide procedures to transfer responsibility to another person who was operating the vehicle or to contest the notice of violation in municipal court.
