4/26/06-A bill has died that would have allowed law enforcement officers to arrest a person for any misdemeanor traffic offense where there is probable cause.
HB36 was awaiting consideration in committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
Under existing state law, an officer is not generally authorized to arrest a person for a misdemeanor traffic offense that is not committed in the presence of the officer.
12/13/05-Rep. David Grimes, R-Montgomery, has prefiled a bill that would allow law enforcement officers to arrest a person for any misdemeanor traffic offense where there is probable cause.
