6/1/06-A bill is likely dead that would require businesses that experience security breaches of computerized data to notify law enforcement and consumers whose personal information was compromised.
Sponsored by Rep. Chuck Gray, R-Mesa, HB2015 remains in committee as the regular session is winding down.
Under the bill, violators would face up to a $500 fine for each individual who did not get proper notification, up to $250,000 per incident.

12/22/05-Rep. Chuck Gray, R-Mesa, has offered a bill that would require businesses that experience security breaches of computerized data to notify law enforcement and consumers whose personal information was compromised.
Under HB2015, violators would face up to a $500 fine for each individual who did not get proper notification, up to $250,000 per incident.
The bill, which is awaiting assignment to a committee, will be considered in the legislative session that begins next month.
