8/31/06-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a bill into law adding California to a national safety compliance database that monitors interstate truckers’ safety compliance.
Sponsored by Assemblyman Roger Niello, R-Fair Oaks, AB2736 allows the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles access to the registration information for out-of-state truckers doing business in the state. It also staggers registration renewals instead of the current end-of-year registration renewal process.

8/17/06-The Assembly approved Senate changes to a bill that would add California to a national safety compliance database that monitors interstate truckers’ safety compliance.
Sponsored by Assemblyman Roger Niello, R-Fair Oaks, AB2736 now moves to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s desk.
The bill would allow the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles access to the registration information for out-of-state truckers doing business in the state. It would also stagger registration renewals instead of the current end-of-year registration renewal process.
