9/15/06-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill into law Friday, Sept. 15, to authorize the American River Bridge to be built in Folsom.
The new law, previously SB1536, allows the city to purchase 14 acres from Folsom prison, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area and two Folsom residents to build the bridge that is expected ease traffic for daily commuters.
The bridge has a $105 million price tag that will be built with a mix of federal and local funds.
8/31/06-A bill awaiting Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s consideration would authorize the American River Bridge to be built in Folsom. The effort won unanimous support during the recently-completed legislative session.
Sponsored by Sen. Dave Cox, R-Fair Oaks, SB1536 would allow the city to purchase 14 acres from Folsom prison, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area and two Folsom residents to build the bridge, which has a $105 million price tag that would be built with a mix of federal and local funds.
Schwarzenegger has not taken a position on the bill that must be signed by mid-September or it will be stamped with a pocket veto, effectively killing it.
