OOIDA Call to Action - Colorado Members
March 3, 2006
Heads up, Colorado truckers!
Recent changes in Colorado's workers' compensation law could force truckers to purchase costly workers' compensation coverage. SB191 seeks to remedy this change.
SB191 will allow you to decide if you want to purchase workers' comp coverage, occupational accident coverage or no coverage at all.
A hearing before the Colorado Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs committee previously scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 3, has been postponed.
It looks like the hearing will now take place Wednesday, March 8.
Ask your senator to support SB191. Call now, and call next week, too. Make sure your senator knows how you feel about this issue.
Right now, several of the senators are set to vote "no" on this legislation and your senator is one of them. We need to change their minds.
You can find your state senator and get his or her contact information by going to www.vote-smart.org and inputting your nine-digit ZIP. If you don't know the full nine-digit ZIP the site does provide a link to assist with getting the last four digits.
You can also call the OOIDA Membership Department at 1-800-444-5791 and they will look up the information for you.
