7/11/06-A bill that would have allowed ninth-graders to take driver’s education in school has died.
Sponsored by Rep. Gerald Hocker, R-Ocean View, HB401 remained in the Senate Education Committee when the session ended. The House previously approved it.
Currently, students must be in 10th grade before they can take the course. Under the bill, students would still have needed to be in 10th grade to receive driving permits.
