5/25/06-A bill that would have put a special mark on driver licenses for sexual offenders and predators has died.
Sponsored by Rep. Charles Dean, R-Inverness, HB7117 was awaiting consideration in the Senate when the session ended. The House already approved it 117-1.
The bill would have required sexual offenders and predators to obtain licenses or identification cards that display their conviction number. Individuals with prior convictions also would have been required to have the special mark.

4/19/06-A bill in the House Justice Council would put a special mark on driver licenses for sexual offenders and predators.
Sponsored by Rep. Charles Dean, R-Inverness, HB7117 would require sexual offenders and predators to obtain licenses or identification cards that display their conviction number. Individuals with prior convictions also would be required to have the special mark.
If the bill wins approval in the Justice Council, it would head to the House floor.
