12/16/05-Rep. Irv Slosberg, D-Boca Raton, has filed a bill that would permit police to pull over drivers for not wearing their seat belts.
Under a 1986 state law, police can ticket drivers for not buckling up only after stopping a vehicle for another traffic violation, such as speeding or a bad taillight.
HB97 has been sent to four House panels for consideration during the legislative session that begins in March.
