5/24/06-A bill that would have authorized counties throughout the state to vote on higher rental vehicle fees has died.
Sponsored by Sen. Daniel Webster, R-Winter Park, S2632 was awaiting consideration on the Senate floor when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
A similar bill – S1350 – however, is still active.

4/25/06-The Senate Transportation Committee unanimously approved a bill that would authorize counties throughout the state to vote on higher rental vehicle fees. Revenue would be used for local transportation projects.
Sponsored by Sen. Daniel Webster, R-Winter Park, S2632 would increase the cost of rental vehicles by $2 per day in counties that approve it.
The bill has been forwarded to the Senate floor for consideration.
