5/24/06-A bill has died that would have required bright pink license plates on vehicles driven by people with restricted driving privileges due to convictions for driving under the influence.
Sponsored by Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, S538 remained in the Senate Transportation Committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill called for the first three characters on the plate to read “DUI.”
It also would have permitted police to make random stops on vehicles displaying the special license plates.
