6/26/06-Gov. Rod Blagojevich signed a bill Saturday, June 24, that could take high school dropouts’ driving privileges away until they re-enroll or turn 18 years old.
The new law, previously HB1463, also authorizes licenses to be revoked of students who miss 10 percent or more of the previous 180 school days without valid cause. Valid causes for absences include illness or a death in the family.
The new law takes effect July 1.
