5/23/06-A bill died in the Senate that would have required the state government to purchase vehicles that can run on ethanol and other alternative fuels. The House previously approved it.
HB4137, sponsored by Rep. Mike Boland, D-East Moline, would have required the state to buy vehicles that are either hybrids or are E-85 or biodiesel compatible. Police squad cars would have been exempted from the requirement.
2/6/06-The House unanimously approved a bill Feb. 1 that would require the state government to purchase vehicles that can run on ethanol and other alternative fuels.
