6/20/06-Gov. Kathleen Blanco signed a bill June 8 increasing the maximum width of trucks and loads operating under special logging equipment permits from 12 feet to 14 feet. It takes effect Aug. 15.
The new law, previously HB1179, affects trucks hauling two pieces of timber-cutting or logging equipment from one job site to another. It does not increase the maximum allowable gross vehicle weight of 105,000 pounds.
The affected loads are not allowed on interstate highways.

5/30/06-The Senate has unanimously approved a bill that would increase the maximum width of trucks and loads operating under special logging equipment permits from 12 feet to 14 feet.
Sponsored by Rep. Jim Fannin, D-Jonesboro, HB1179 has been sent to Gov. Kathleen Blanco’s desk for her signature. The House already approved it.
The bill would affect trucks hauling two pieces of timber-cutting or logging equipment from one job site to another. It would not increase the maximum allowable gross vehicle weight of 105,000 pounds.
The affected loads are not allowed on interstate highways.

5/19/06-The Senate Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee has approved a bill that would increase the maximum width of trucks and loads operating under special logging equipment permits from 12 feet to 14 feet. The House unanimously approved it in early May.
