12/19/06-A bill that called for tapping into the state's general fund to pay for road and bridge work throughout the state has died. Sponsored by Rep. Hunter Greene, R-Baton Rouge, HB99 remained in the House Appropriations Committee when the special session ended Dec. 15 - two days earlier than planned. The bill would've diverted $400 million from the general fund to pay for projects on the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development's essential projects list.
