12/19/06-A bill has died that would've allowed parish governments to split vehicle sales tax revenue instead of it going into the state's general fund. Sponsored by Sen. Mike Michot, R-Lafayette, SB26 remained in the Senate Finance Committee when the special session ended Dec. 15 - two days earlier than planned. The bill would've divided revenue from the 4 percent sales tax according to population. An identical House bill - HB118 - met the same fate.
