2/1/06-A bill in the Transportation Committee would require companies that hire independent commercial truck drivers to verify whether or not the driver has a valid operator’s license.
LD1950, sponsored by Rep. Walter Ash, D-Belfast, would give companies access to driving records to do a minimum driving record check.
The bill doesn’t specify any fines for those found in violation.
