8/10/06-Gov. Jennifer Granholm has signed a bill – SB1075 – into law requiring the Michigan Department of Management and Budget, by Jan. 1, 2007, to install pumps and related equipment to supply fuel to the state-owned vehicle fleet with alternative fuels – such as E85 and biodiesel.
6/23/06-The House voted 102-2 June 21 to approve a bill that is intended to spur renewable fuels use. The bill, which the Senate already passed, now heads to Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s desk for her signature.
Sponsored by Sen. Wayne Kuipers, R-Holland, SB1075 would require the Michigan Department of Management and Budget, by Oct. 1, 2006, to install pumps and related equipment to supply fuel to the state-owned vehicle fleet with alternative fuels – such as E85, a fuel blend that is 85 percent ethanol, and biodiesel, which contains at least 5 percent diesel fuel derived from crops.
The bill is part of a package of bills that would require that the state fleet use alternative-fuel vehicles.
