1/3/07-A bill has died that would have required the Michigan Strategic Fund to create and administer a matching grant program to provide incentives to service station owners and operators to convert existing fuel delivery systems, and create new fuel delivery systems, designed to provide E85 fuel, a blend that is 85 percent ethanol, and biodiesel, which contains at least 5 percent diesel fuel derived from crops. The program would have to provide grants
Sponsored by Sen. Ron Jelinek, R-Three Oaks, SB1076 remained in the House Agriculture Committee when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year. The Senate previously approved it.
The bill would have upped to 50 percent of the costs to convert an existing fuel delivery system, not to exceed $2,000 per facility; and up to 50 percent of the new construction costs to create a fuel delivery system, not to exceed $20,000 per facility.
